About the Portfolio 

The Operations Portfolio enables an integrated, enterprise-wide delivery for best practice student and staff experiences.

The Portfolio incorporates the following business units:  Enterprise Projects and Business Performance (EPBP), Communications, Experience, Human Resources, Information and Technology Services (ITS), Office of the Chief Operating Officer, Procurement and Property Services Group (PSG).

The Portfolio houses significant drivers and delivery components across the staff and student journeys and enables the overall experience for both groups. The Portfolio is integral in bringing the RMIT strategy to life, across the globe.  Each of these functions supports the global operations of the University both directly as well as through its controlled entities. 

The Information Technology Services (ITS) function, provides RMIT University with current and emerging Technology systems and services. About the position

The QA Lead will work closely with business and technical stakeholders within Projects portfolio delivery team within ITS in defining scope of testing, identifying test scenarios, opportunities for automation, developing and executing functional test cases and defect triages. Taking on a proactive leading role, the QA Lead will work closely with both Project teams i.e., Project Managers, Developers, Business Analysts and Business stakeholders, and other teams that the application will be integrating/ interfacing with to ensure that the delivered solution meets business needs and high-quality standards.

The QA Lead will be an expert in the testing domain and the applications within the solution in which he/she operates and will provide consultative advice to stakeholders whilst also leading the Test Analysts as required.

The QA Lead will support the wider Project Team members in the completion of project tasks and deliverables that relate to testing activities, e.g. analysis, planning, execution, reporting and closure.

The QA Lead will also be a key contributor to the Testing Practice and play an active role in sharing knowledge and skills with other Senior Test Analysts and Test Analysts.

This position requires practical commercial experience in the leading testing which the main focus on Vendor Testing Management, System Integration Testing (planning, execution and reporting), UAT Test Governance along with carrying out technical leadership responsibilities in both project work and operational support.

Excellent communication, organization, technical proficiency, critical thinking and a roll-up-your-sleeves attitude are required to succeed in this position.

Skills & Experience required:

  • Project Test Management experience

  • Providing Test Planning and Governance,

  • Working across Multiple delivery streams providing test leadership

  • Prepare test strategy / detailed plan work and test cases,

  • Planning and management of test execution Engagement and Co-Ordination of resources to perform testing (Technical specialist and/or Business Operations)  

  • Producing status reporting

  • Management of QA Budgets

  • Defect management 

  • Tools: Jira Test Rail
