An exciting opportunity now presents itself to join the University as our next Provost. The Provost provides leadership, direction, and strategic evaluation of academic matters within the University. As standing Deputy to the Vice-Chancellor, the Provost also works closely with senior leaders across the University ensuring that UQ is positioned for future success, and is responsible for the line management of UQ’s faculties and major research institutes.

The successful candidate will play an integral role in shaping our next strategic plan from 2026 and both develop and lead major strategic initiatives to effect meaningful change and advance an innovative academic agenda for the University. The incoming Provost will join UQ at a time of great excitement within Brisbane, as the city prepares for the Olympic Games in 2032.

The next Provost will combine a proven record of accomplishment of effective academic leadership and management with an excellent personal academic standing. The successful candidate will possess an inclusive and collaborative approach that will embody our University values and allow them to build partnerships and influence, both internally and externally. They will have a detailed understanding of, and passion for, excellence, equity, and innovation in teaching, learning and student life and a comprehensive understanding of university research, alongside experience of strategic resource management at scale and the capacity to lead cross-university initiatives.
