About the team
The WA Proteomics Facility is a node of Proteomics Australia based at CMCA that provides services to WA researchers including - sample analysis by mass spectrometry, data analysis and consulting. Services are delivered through a joint venture between The University of Western Australia and Proteomics International. The Facility’s goal is to use its expertise and equipment to fuel cutting-edge research and support high-end industry needs that align with its expertise. It strives to form strong collaborations with any interested scientists to increase the value of their research. Services are focused on protein identification, quantitation and flux analysis.
About the opportunity
In this position, you will manage the day-to-day operation and maintenance of the Proteomics Facility. This includes management of equipment, administration services and engaging with a range of clients in the planning, development, acquisition, designing, processing and interpretation of data. You will also be involved in promoting the Facility services including the development and delivery of training programs.
About you
You will be a highly specialised expert in various aspects of biological and molecular mass spectrometry with an emphasis on protein analysis and have excellent customer service skills.
To be considered for this opportunity, you will have:
- Relevant Bachelor’s degree in Science or equivalent competence
- Substantial demonstrated experience managing laboratory operations, coordinating infrastructure and instrumentation maintenance involving internal staff, external suppliers and other stakeholders
- Extensive practical experience in the use of high-performance mass spectrometry for protein analysis
- Experience in the provision of consultancy and expert technical advice to clients and other stakeholders
- Demonstrated knowledge of safety issues relating to the use of the laboratory equipment and handling of hazardous chemicals, including organizing the disposal or recovery of waste materials
- Knowledge and experience with quality management systems in a laboratory or core facility environment
- Knowledge of regulations to comply with NATA accreditation is preferred.
- Demonstrated experience in the successful delivery, enhancement or review of training material including the ability to train and develop staff in science and laboratory operations
