About the Role

The Project Officer is responsible for providing a broad range of high level administrative and project development and management support to the Office of the Pro Vice Chancellor: Aboriginal Leadership and Strategy. Working in collaboration with key staff in the University, this role will establish and maintain strong networks and productive internal and external working relationships to support the work of the Office.

The Pro Vice Chancellor: Aboriginal Leadership and Strategy leads the development of a whole of institution approach to the recruitment, support, retention and success of Australian Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in the University. In doing so the University can enhance the supports provided for our Aboriginal students and staff and strengthen our position as a University of Choice for Aboriginal Peoples in South Australia and beyond.

Core Responsibilities

  • Provide high level support to the Office of the Pro Vice Chancellor: Aboriginal Strategy and Leadership
  • Undertake research on relevant initiatives and opportunities, undertaking detailed analysis, and producing written reports
  • Undertake research and generate succinct and clear strategic analyses of complex information, trends and data sets to support the Office
  • Provide high-level secretarial support including the preparation of agenda papers, minute taking and follow-up on resulting actions
  • Support the ongoing maintenance of a project management system, to track, report and monitor key milestone activities for each project
  • Assist and prepare relevant internal and external communications to effectively share the activities and outcomes of the projects and initiatives coordinated by the Office
  • Prepare complex reports, project plans, briefings and presentations for a range of audiences

Essential Skills and Experience
  • Tertiary qualifications in a relevant field or equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education
  • Culturally-astute with well-developed interpersonal skills, including a demonstrated ability to navigate sensitive and diverse environments, in order to establish and build strong relationships with Aboriginal Peoples, and in particular Elders and communities
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a busy and complex environment with competing demands.
  • High level organisational skills to produce high quality outcomes in limited timeframes
  • Highly developed written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to produce high quality reports, papers, presentations and business cases
  • Demonstrated project management experience that involves the development and execution of complex projects
