About the Role

The Project Officer is responsible for providing a broad range of high-level project, committee and event management support to the Dean of Graduate Studies. Working in collaboration with key staff in the University, this role will establish and maintain strong networks and productive internal and external working relationships to support the work of the Dean of Graduate Studies in delivering excellent research training outcomes.

This position is also responsible for undertaking research; information and data gathering; data analysis; preparing advice and recommendations; editing and finalising documents and reports; and ensuring the efficient and confidential management of the Dean’s schedule.

The Office of the Vice Chancellor provides support and has overall responsibility for managing the Vice Chancellor’s and the Enterprise Leadership Team’s strategic agenda and supporting functions. Functions within the Office of the Vice Chancellor include General Counsel and University Secretary, Risk and Assurance Services and a strategic project team.

Core Responsibilities

  • Provide high-level and confidential executive support to the Dean of Graduate Studies including diary and general correspondence management, presentation materials, and financial administration
  • Undertake research on relevant initiatives and opportunities, undertaking detailed analysis, and producing written reports
  • Provide high-level programmatic support to committees Chaired by the Dean of Graduate Studies, including the development of agenda papers, minute taking and follow-up on resulting actions
  • Manage large scale events, which are sponsored by the Dean of Graduate Studies, which promote the research degree candidates, their research and the portfolio
  • Proactively identify and implement initiatives improving the delivery and efficiency of graduate research related work from the Dean’s office to the University and external stakeholders

Essential Skills and Experience

  • Tertiary qualifications in a relevant field or equivalent combination of relevant experience, skills and knowledge
  • Demonstrated ability to autonomously plan, research and manage projects under broad direction
  • Demonstrated research, analytical and writing skills for effective gathering and synthesis of information and data, producing high-quality evidence-based advice and reports
  • Strong track-record of working autonomously and exercising sound judgement and discretion
  • Well-developed interpersonal skills, including a demonstrated ability to work collaboratively to foster effective stakeholder relationships
  • Experience in providing executive level support to a senior manager and committees
