About the team

The Student Equity and Success teams facilitate a high-quality student experience focused on access and support for students, both academic and cocurricular activities that enrich an inclusive student experience, including the development of a dedicated first year experience. The Equity and Success Team is responsible for the oversight of the Student Access and Participation Framework which, through local ownership and accountability, the University community seeks to empower all students to aspire to, achieve and thrive at The University of Western Australia.

The University of Western Australia (UWA) has a range of student equity and access programs that are located within Student Life including:

    • Aspire UWA works with 70 partner schools and communities in regional Western Australia and Perth to raise aspirations for tertiary education
    • The Western Australian Children’s University Partnership works in partnership with primary schools in Perth and regional WA to support students underrepresented in higher education and encourage lifelong learning
    • Fairway UWA is an academic support program for Year 12 students who are high achievers aiming for university and are experiencing financial disadvantage
    • The Girls in Engineering (GiE) outreach program inspires female students to take advantage of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) study and the career pathways available in this area

About the opportunity

In this position, you will coordinate programs for the Student Equity team including the Indigenous, Regional and Low SES Attainment Fund (IRLSAF) programs, with a focus on pre-access, access, and participation life stages, including Aspire UWA, Fairway UWA and the Student Equity Ambassador Program for current UWA students.

About you

To be considered for this role, you will demonstrate:

  • Relevant tertiary qualification or demonstrated equivalent competency
  • Substantial relevant experience at an appropriate level
  • Understanding of the Western Australian school system and entry pathways to University including ATAR and alternative pathways
  • Highly developed written and verbal communication skills including public speaking skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to work with a range of people from different cultural and educational backgrounds, and of different age groups
  • Understanding of, and commitment to equity and diversity and the issues relating to successful transition to University

Note: Provision of a Current Working with Children Check and an Australian ‘C’ class driver’s licence will be required for the successful applicant.
