About the role:

The Project Officer will support and drive the School of Information Technology’s program to encourage a culture of innovation and entrepreneurial mindset among students. This role aims to improve student engagement in entrepreneurial activities and opportunities as part of the pathway into the final year industry capstone program.

The role will focus on organising events such as hackathons, meetups, and industry presentations each trimester to enhance student experience in innovation and entrepreneurship. Additionally, it involves collaborating with the SIT Innovation team to boost marketing efforts for the Industry Capstone Program and engage first and second-year students in awareness of the final year program and pathway experiences.

As an Innovation and Entrepreneurship Project Officer, you will:

  • Plan, prioritise and facilitate RapidX and RapidS design thinking workshops for students, identifying obstacles, finding solutions, and assessing progress.
  • Prepare and monitor work schedules, resources, budgets, cost estimates and provide necessary documentation through status updates, project reports and presentations.
  • Liaise with established start-up partners for events and co-promotion of activities including overseas partnerships, hackathons, industry competitions, and industry certification and skills programs.
  • Seek to continuously improve and apply critical learnings to improve student skills in agile thinking and execution.
  • Communicate with confidence using examples and the most appropriate influencing technique for a given situation to increase understanding and support.
  • Strive for excellence and consult regularly with stakeholders to clarify who requires the information or support, the purpose for which it is required, criteria for success and where and when advice and recommendation is required.

To be successful, you’ll have:

  • Experience in SCRUM, design-thinking, agile development, or product management/product owner roles is desirable but not essential.
  • Relevant degree with subsequent relevant experience in marketing and communications activities, such as writing, production, coordination, implementation, social media and/or experience in planning and coordinating events.
  • Or equivalent combination of education, training and/or experience.
