  • Commencement Salary: $71,205 per annum (plus 17% superannuation)


About the Role

Based in Clinical and Health Sciences and reporting directly to the Manager: Veterans’ Mates, the Project Officer is responsible for facilitating the Quality Improvement and Continuing Professional Development (QI&CPD) activities of the Veterans’ Medicines Advice and Therapeutics Education Services (Veterans’ MATES) Program.

The Project Officer will also undertake high level administrative duties and provide support to the Data and Security staff.

About Veterans MATES

Established by the Australian Government Department of Veterans Affairs (DVA), the Veterans MATES program has improved the health of veterans by providing up to date health and medicines information specifically tailored for veterans and their general practitioners. The activities of the Veterans’ MATES program are underpinned by the guiding principles of Australia’s National Strategy for Quality Use of Medicines. Utilising DVA’s health claims data, Veterans’ MATES provides direct patient-based feedback to general practitioners. This is supported with educational materials developed by a clinical panel, which are peer reviewed and overseen by a national representative editorial committee. Pharmacists and veterans also receive supporting educational material. The program is funded by DVA.

Core Responsibilities

  • Facilitate and administrate the Quality Improvement and Continuing Professional Development (QI&CPD) activities of the Veterans’ MATES Program
  • Act as first point of contact for health professionals including responding to enquiries regarding the accreditation process and the provision of activity points upon completion of learning activities
  • Act as a point of contact for visitors and health professionals including responding to enquiries regarding accreditation processes
  • Provide a high level of customer service when responding to general telephone and email enquiries from University staff and students and external partners
  • Undertake integrated data analysis to prepare activity reports for professional organisations in consultation with the data and statistics team
  • Provide executive support by preparing agendas and papers, distributing documentation to key stakeholders, minute taking and following up of action items

Essential Skills and Experience
  • Current registration as an Education Activity Representative or registration process currently in progress
  • Demonstrated ability to work under pressure while maintaining a high attention to detail and flexibility
  • Ability to collect, analyse, interpret and communicate data from a variety of sources
  • Highly developed analytical and business writing skills with the ability to provide clear and concise correspondence, reports and documentation
  • Ability to build relationships with a diverse portfolio of stakeholders with demonstrated high levels of customer service
  • Ability to work with both autonomy and collaboratively within a team environment
