Rural Clinical School of WA

  • Part-time (0.5 FTE) appointment on a fixed term basis to 31 December 2024
  • Base salary range: Level 5 $83,005 – $87,723 p.a. plus 17% superannuation

About the team 

The Rural Clinical School of Western Australia is a unit within the UWA Medical School which provides rural clinical training for WA medical students. The RCSWA spans a breadth of some 3,500kms across multiple sites in WA order to provide a positive rural educational experience, increase the quantity and quality of the rural workforce and in turn improve health outcomes in rural and remote Australia.

Located in the Bunbury office of the Rural Clinical School of WA (RCSWA), this position will assist the WA Regional Training Hubs team as part of the Regional Training Hubs (RTH) Project.

About the opportunity 

As the appointee you will, under general direction, be responsible for the implementation of the Rural Recruitment Program for rural and remote high school students, looking to enter Medicine at UWA. You will provide support with information dissemination, development and facilitation of workshops and activities, and develop partnerships with the necessary stakeholders to increase the number of rural high school students entering Medicine at UWA.

To be considered for this role, you will demonstrate:

  • Relevant tertiary qualification or equivalent competency
  • Substantial relevant experience at an appropriate level
  • Understand the difficulties and challenges that rural high school students face when relocating to Perth for tertiary studies
  • Excellent organisational skills with the demonstrated ability to set priorities and to meet deadlines
  • Experience in tertiary education is highly desirable
  • Knowledge of rural Western Australia is desirable
  • Exposure to career mentoring for high school students in rural settings is desirable
