From 2021, UniSA introduced a project-based admissions process for all research degree programs. We now seek to appoint an experienced Project Manager to lead and coordinate key operational process improvements identified as part of the recently launched Project-based Research Degrees initiative, under the direction of the Dean of Graduate Studies and in close consultation with the Chief Academic Services Officer.

About the Role

Undertaking strategic and operational responsibilities, the Project Manager will establish effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders to implement process improvements to ensure effective administration and operation across the Academic and Professional units. The role will contribute to the successful recruitment, onboarding, engagement and reporting of higher degree by research students and will ensure the University’s approach to project management through its One Team Project Framework is understood and implemented.

Core Responsibilities

  • Establish strong networks and working relationships with Academic and Professional Units to identify, engage and leverage expertise to support delivery of project outcomes
  • Provide strategic and technical advice in the management and execution of the Project-based Research Degrees initiative by reviewing and actioning individual project plans, risk registers, issue registers and communications plans
  • Prepare high quality submissions and project status reports for stakeholders and the Enterprise Leadership team
  • Review, evaluate and communicate project outcomes to stakeholders for benefits realisation and continuous improvement
  • Provide high level executive support to committees and working groups

Essential Skills and Experience
  • Appropriate tertiary qualifications in a relevant field and extensive relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education
  • Strong project management skills with demonstrated experience in driving and executing concurrent projects with competing deadlines in a complex environment comparable to higher education
  • High level negotiation, interpersonal and presentation skills to communicate effectively with a range of audiences and present complex information with clarity
  • Demonstrated high-level written skills including significant experience in preparation of strategic and executive reports
  • Demonstrated financial acumen including significant experience in costing business cases, developing project budgets and managing financial reporting
