There’s a certain feeling you get from working at Monash University. It’s the feeling that you’re a part of something special. Something significant. So if you’re looking for the next chapter in your career, it’s here. You’ll be given the opportunity to challenge yourself, build on your skills, and make a significant contribution to a workplace that’s filled with energetic and inspiring people. Talent thrives here – and so do truly satisfying careers.

The Initiative

Monash is initiating an ambitious transdisciplinary research initiative to transform the future of healthcare in Australia: Future Hospital: Future Health (FH). The initiative involves strong collaboration across a number of Monash Faculties and with industry and government. The Future Hospital initiative seeks to re-imagine healthcare as a distributed system in which patients and carers are at the centre of an ecosystem of care operating across different scales including technologies, systems, physical spaces and architectures . The initiative has a strong focus on the integration between hospital and community care; home monitoring to enable people to stay in their homes; personalised medicine; and decreasing the planetary impact of health and care.

The Opportunity

Catalysing such an ambitious, transformative and cross-sectoral research initiative demands a senior, experienced, and driven project manager to bring it to life as part of a high-performing, cross-University team.

As the Project Manager you will be expert in understanding that complex problems need a holistic approach that ‘crowds in’ expertise and partners. You will build strong relationships internally and externally, and be able to identify intervention and leverage points for building intellectual, financial and partnership support for the initiative. You will steward the project in an uncertain inception phase by recognising that catalysing large research programs is a non-linear and unpredictable process. You will need to be comfortable and able to work with emergence, ambiguity and uncertainty to grow one of Monash’s flagship research initiatives.

As the Project Manager you will also be responsible for the end-to-end management of the Future Hospital initiative and make a significant impact in the area of healthcare delivery and experience. Although you will be based at MADA, Future Hospital is a cross-faculty and multidisciplinary initiative which places people and planet-centred design solutions at its core. You will work closely with senior stakeholders, both internal and external, across faculties, campuses and with key healthcare stakeholders, to deliver projects in accordance with agreed timeframes, within budget and to achieve strategic business outcomes.

Success in this role will utilise your considerable experience in all aspects of project management, including providing expert advice, and managing major change initiatives to support the delivery of project outcomes where required.

Reporting Line

The position reports to the Faculty General Manager, with day to day direction from the Future Hospital Working Group Chair. This role works under broad direction with a considerable degree of autonomy.

This role is a full-time position; however, flexible working arrangements may be negotiated.

At Monash University, we are committed to being a Child Safe organisation. This position at the University will require the incumbent to hold a valid Working with Children Check and a satisfactory Police Check.

Your application must address the selection criteria. Please refer to  "How to apply for Monash Jobs ".
