About the role:

The Project Manager will manage nominated singular and/or various concurrent medium to large-scale high level complex University construction and infrastructure projects from briefing to operational readiness to ensure efficient, effective, and timely services within specified project timelines. This involves close liaison with key stakeholders to develop and deliver the full scope of allocated projects through the provision of end-to-end project management services within required processes, procedures and regulations.

The position involves liaison with internal stakeholders, external consultants and external contractors to ensure the development of innovative built environment solutions, which achieve accurate cost control, timely delivery and adherence to all regulations and Occupational Health and Safety requirements.

As a Project Manager you will:

  • Lead with values, ethics and emotional intelligence to grow team resilience, inclusion and performance and sets clear standards of expected behaviour. Recognise and reward performance and behaviours that contribute to the delivery of results and high-quality outcomes that meet the needs of a diverse range of stakeholders. 
  • Promote teamwork and provide tailored coaching to enable individuals to deliver high quality solutions and the achievement of goals.
  • Use understanding of the customer context to anticipate needs, tailor services, improve service offering and ensure a high-quality outcome by addressing customer feedback and setting service standards.
  • Actively encourage and coach others to question traditional assumptions, promotes ideas and review practices and policies and translate into workplace improvements.
  • Analyse problems, weigh up a range of options to identify accessible and inclusive solutions and translate complex issues into clear and understandable goals and targets for Deakin.
  • Proactively create, establish and retain professional networks, mutually beneficial relationships and considers practical application and alignment within Deakin.

To be successful, you’ll have:

  • Postgraduate qualifications or progress towards postgraduate qualifications and extensive relevant experience; or
  • Extensive experience and management expertise; or
  • An equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training in building, construction, architecture, project management
  • Direct relevant industry experience in project management of capital infrastructure and built environment projects on budget and program within a tertiary education environment, a Head Contractor, or a Project Management firm, including broad experience with different styles of construction project procurement and delivery methodologies
  • Significant proven experience in the delivery of high complexity projects with large stakeholder groups with a proven ability to recognise and critically analyse stakeholder requirements
