About the opportunity

The Sydney Knowledge Hub helps researchers build strong partnerships with industry by providing a collaborative environment and an innovation ecosystem to improve commercialisation outcomes. Our membership-based coworking space  in the heart of our Darlington campus is an incubator for researcher-led startups and for innovative small and medium businesses working with the University. We support research-entrepreneurs throughout their commercialisation journey through programming, network, and peer-to-peer learning; we also help R&D heavy businesses collaborate with the researchers, facilities, and students at the University. The Sydney Knowledge team is a small, highly collaborative, values-led team with an entrepreneurial culture.

As the Program Manager in this new position, you will take the lead on the research commercialisation programs driven from the Sydney Knowledge Hub.  This initially will be focused on a new market discovery program for researchers, including gaining support for, co-designing, implementing, and managing the program.  You will also improve and potentially scale a mentor program and bring more visibility to existing research commercialisation support services. The role will be busy, diverse and hugely rewarding as you contribute to the success of emerging research entrepreneurs and their world positive research which includes the design, development and execution of a new Market Discovery program.

Your key responsibilities will be to:

  • work within a tight-knit team, reporting to the Director of the Sydney Knowledge Hub
  • manage the strategic design, development and execution of a new Market Discovery Program to improve outcomes for the researchers at the University of Sydney
  • develop relationships and drive consultation for the program with schools, faculties, other innovation and commercialisation teams and ensure successful launch and implementation
  • work with university marketing and communications teams to promote the program and events
  • facilitate discussions, activities, and workshops to support researchers to apply new knowledge
  • promote existing programs, resources, and opportunities at the University of Sydney to research entrepreneurs
  • improve the experience of the research entrepreneurship journey by helping make access to programs, resources, and opportunities more seamless

  • demonstrated experience designing and delivering research and / or entrepreneurial content
  • a high level of initiative
  • proven expertise in strategic consultation with stakeholders, at all levels
  • confident presentation, facilitation, and workshop delivery skills to deliver program content
  • the ability to adjust and adapt to workloads sometimes under pressure, with competing priorities
  • excellent communication skills coupled with strong influencing skills
  • knowledge of project management systems, innovation, and entrepreneurship ecosystem.
