About The UWA College Diploma of Science
The UWA College Diploma of Science provides international students with the academic knowledge, study skills and English language competence they need to progress to the second year of a Science-related degree at UWA.
About the role
You will lead a team of teaching staff and work closely with the Academic Director, other managers and internal and external stakeholders to manage the delivery of the UWA College Diploma of Science Program. You will be responsible for all stages of the students’ learning journey, teaching resources and academic administration services.
Your key responsibilities will include:
- Contribute to teaching as is appropriate for overall workload.
- Manage the allocation of students and teaching resource to ensure quality provision with an understanding of the commercial imperatives and financial targets.
- Maintain good relationships with the University, acting as a positive ambassador for INTO.
- Contribute to the College’s teaching resource, providing role model behaviour in relation to the quality and standards of work.
- Be responsible for the recruitment, development and performance management of teaching staff.
- Be accountable for collaborative working amongst teaching staff to maximise students’ learning outcomes.
- Provide staff with on-going support and guidance regarding program goals, curriculum, assessment, materials, and methodology.
- Manage the ongoing professional development of staff in collaboration with the management team.
- Ensure that internal quality assurance is conducted, including program evaluation and continuous improvement.
- Ensure that the program continues to meet students’ and other stakeholders’ needs.
- Work in collaboration with UWA and INTO admissions and marketing colleagues in order to play an effective role in the application and implementation of agreed entry requirement guidelines.

Pastoral Accountabilities
- Contribute to effective pastoral care in order to ensure all students’ welfare.
- Maintain comprehensive academic and pastoral records for reporting and management purposes.
About You
- Post-graduate qualification in a discipline-based subject with experience delivering teaching/courses for a higher education provider.
- Experience in developing and contributing to teaching programs and curriculum for students using evidence-based reporting to support quality assurance and continuous improvement.
- Experience in managing and motivating staff, to secure prompt and effective action plans and create a ‘can-do’ culture.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills including the ability to communicate with a broad range of stakeholders from a diverse range of backgrounds.
- High level IT skills, competence in production and analysis of data.
- A demonstrated investment in the holistic well-being of international students, including an understanding of pastoral support in helping students achieve.
- An understanding of the Australian higher education system and pathway programs.
- Committed and responsible for promoting and safeguarding the welfare of adolescents and young adults.
- Commercially astute, with the ability to reconcile the twin imperatives of delivering quality programs and working in a ‘for profit’ organisation.
- Proven planning and organisational skills with some experience of managing departmental budgets.
- An ability to take initiative within curriculum and policy objectives.
All UWA College staff need to be committed and responsible for promoting and safeguarding the welfare of adolescents and young adults. The offer will be subject to a Western Australian Working with Children Check, National Police check and two references.
The successful candidate will also need to demonstrate their right to work within Australia.
