Under broad to generally unguided direction, the Program Director (ICA) will be responsible for the business development and management of a program of works under Innovation Central Adelaide, a partnership between Cisco and Flinders University.
Innovation Central Adelaide is an industry and research collaboration, part of Cisco’s network of Innovation Centres and operated by Flinders University. The vision of the Centre is to accelerate the advancement of digital transformation through an open innovation ecosystem. It is located at Flinders University’s facilities in the Tonsley Innovation District.
This position holds significant importance for Cisco and Flinders University and will be responsible for leadership in the development and ongoing management of the business development, strategy, program of works and eventual operations model for an expanded Innovation Central Adelaide. The incumbent will have oversight of all program and project planning and allocation and engage in partner management and research project development.
This position will be responsible for the direct line management of all program and project staff.

Key Position Responsibilities

The Program Director (ICA) is accountable for:

  • The successful planning and execution of a program of large, strategic projects to accelerate the advancement of digital transformation through an open innovation ecosystem.

  • Providing high level support with the identification and development of strategic opportunities and partnerships with key government, industry and professional organisation stakeholders in relation to Innovation Central Adelaide that leads to collaborative projects.

  • Identifying and monitoring funding opportunities and providing support in pursuing these opportunities for external fund generation.

  • Effective resource and budget planning, forecasting and management and reporting for the program of works delivered under Innovation Central Adelaide.

  • Providing high level advice, reporting and support to the Governance Board of Innovation Central Adelaide.

  • The delivery of draft strategic and operational plans to expand Innovation Central Adelaide for consideration by the Management Board.

  • Human Resource management for all project and program staff including mentoring and guiding individuals, program, and project teams.

  • Negotiating and overseeing formal agreements and project terms, relating to Innovation Central Adelaide and its partners.

  • Supporting the Flinders University and Cisco partnership and identifying and pursuing new opportunities for growth.

  • Collaborating and liaising with key University and Cisco leadership and support staff.

  • Establishing and maintaining appropriate, positive communications within Innovation Central Adelaide and in negotiations with key stakeholders and partners.

  • Any other responsibilities in line with the level of the position as assigned by the Supervisor and/or the University.

Key Position Capabilities

  • Combination of relevant experience and/or education and training.

  • Program management skills in a complex to advanced diverse and dynamic digital technology environment, preferably using Agile or Lean principles.

  • Comprehensive understanding of a wide range of program and project management approaches and software that contribute to the successful delivery of concurrent complex projects with multiple stakeholders.

  • Strategic and operational planning and resulting program definition and execution experience within a digital disruption setting.

  • A high level of interpersonal influence and skills, including proven capacity to work effectively with a range of external and internal stakeholders and governance boards.

  • Demonstrated ability to manage complex project finances, delivery schedules and delivery quality and reporting to various key stakeholders.

  • Demonstrated business development experience in a digital aware environment.

  • An ability and desire to drive change and exploit emerging technologies and/or approaches that consider the impact to the economy and society.

  • Proven ability to solve complex problems that require strategic thought, independent judgement and the ability make decisions with limited information.

  • High level written and oral communication skills, including the ability to write program and business plans and proposals, and deliver presentations at all levels of an organisation.

  • Demonstrated high level of initiative and well-developed organisation skills with the ability to work both independently with minimal supervision and within a team environment.

  • Demonstrated management ability in leading large teams to their full potential, including recruitment, interpersonal and relationship management skills and the ability to effectively delegate and manage staff performance, including unsatisfactory performance.
