About the team
The Forrest Research Foundation (the Foundation) at the University of Western Australia (UWA) has been established following the donation of $65 million over 10 years by Andrew and Nicola Forrest. Their donation is to assist Western Australia in becoming a world-class centre of research and innovation through attracting the next generation of outstanding intellects to this state to pursue doctoral studies or postdoctoral fellowships. The Foundation shall assist the University of Western Australia’s Senate and Vice-Chancellor in all matters associated with the terms of the Deed of Gift. The control, management and conduct of the business and affairs of the Foundation are vested in the Governors of the Foundation. The Governors may appoint standing or ad hoc committees to assist from time to time. The Governors delegate the operational management of the foundation to the Director.

About the opportunity
As the appointee you will, under broad general direction, be responsible for the day-to-day administration of the Forrest Research Foundation Scholarship and Fellowship programs. In so doing, you will oversee the effective processing of scholarship and fellowship applications. Beyond this, you will and assist in designing and implementing the unique Forrest Research Foundation ‘researcher journey’ program which includes the induction program for all new residents. This will require you to work closely with the Director to establish and manage key strategic relationships. You will work closely with the Forrest Research Foundation team to deliver the programs of the Foundation more broadly, including organising events, and work closely with the Director to lead special projects as required. In overseeing the programs of the Foundation, you will be responsible for the financial management of the scholarship’s portfolio in liaison with Financial Services and the Graduate Research Schools, monitoring annual budgets, providing advice and guidance to the Director and the Forrest Scholarships Selection Committee on award guidelines. You will oversee the operations of Forrest Hall 1 and 2, liaising with the Student Accommodation and Community team to ensure the efficient management of the operations. You will also use your expertise to take a lead role in the implementation, administration and maintenance of office systems, policies, and procedures to ensure efficient operation of the Foundation.

About you
To be considered for this opportunity, you will demonstrate:

  • Relevant tertiary qualification or equivalent competency.
  • Substantial relevant senior administrative experience at an appropriate level.
  • Substantial experience in program design and delivery.
  • Highly developed organisational skills and demonstrated ability to set priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to carry out research and write reports.
  • Ability to work independently, show initiative and lead and work productively as part of a team.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with a capability to interact with senior level stakeholders.
  • Experience working in a university environment or similar large organisation.
  • Proficiency in a range of computing skills with advanced knowledge of MS Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, WordPress and Internet.
