  • Salary: $190,486 per annum (plus 17% superannuation)


About the Role

As a leading expert in the field of Education, you will make an outstanding contribution to the teaching and research activities of UniSA Education Futures. You will play a strategic leadership role in the development of high quality undergraduate and postgraduate courses in Education Futures. You will also conduct nationally and internationally recognised research and build the research capacity and reputation of our Academic Unit, through collaboration with external partners and professional bodies and the attraction of competitive grants.

We seek a colleague whose research is situated in the context of Initial Teacher Education, Early Childhood Education, Primary or Secondary education or professional learning. Your research and leadership expertise will complement the Unit’s strategic focus and strengthen the existing research centres. You will supervise Masters and PhD students to the successful completion of their programs and offer mentoring and support to early and mid-career academic staff.

UniSA Education Futures

We develop education professionals who will play a crucial role in the learning and development of children, young people and adults. Our research contributes to innovation in education and preparation for learning, supporting and informing new approaches to practice in the ever-evolving education sector. UniSA College provides pre-degree and pathway programs for Australian students, and implements the University’s Participation Strategy, aimed at increasing the number of students from a low socio-economic background enrolled in the University.

Core Responsibilities

  • Develop, coordinate and deliver Education courses, ensuring that their content and quality represents contemporary practice and theory
  • Conduct nationally and internationally recognised research, and attract external funding from competitive grant applications
  • Foster and enhance national and international strategic links and collaborations with stakeholders, universities, industry, and accrediting bodies
  • Supervise higher degree by research (HDR) students as well as mentoring of academic staff new to HDR supervision
  • Provide leadership in academic governance and administration and support early and mid-career academics

Essential Skills and Experience
  • Relevant doctoral degree with advanced foundational discipline-based research
  • An outstanding international reputation and eminent authority in Education, with original, innovative and distinguished achievement in research
  • Substantial experience in providing academic leadership to the development, management and delivery of programs
  • Demonstrated strong track record in producing high quality, high impact journal papers, research grant applications, research income and PhD student supervision and completions.
  • Proven capacity to mentor and support the development of individuals and academic teams
