The Opportunity

The School of Educational Psychology and Counselling is looking to appoint an outstanding academic to join our high-performing team. The Professor of Educational and Developmental Psychology will provide academic leadership and foster excellence in research, teaching, professional activities and policy development. The Faculty of Education is recognised worldwide for the quality of its research, teaching and service. 

The Professor of Educational and Developmental Psychology is a key leadership role and contributes to the achievement of the Faculty's goals through a program of research focused on cognitive psychological approaches to the study of language acquisition and development, especially literacy; socio-cognitive approaches to the study of classroom interaction, children's conceptual development and learning sciences. The Professor of Educational and Developmental Psychology will play a pivotal role in providing strong and committed leadership that will inspire staff with a strong vision for education, research and engagement, and that may involve the development of new courses. 

Reporting to the Head of School, the Professor, Educational and Developmental Psychology is responsible for fostering research excellence and impact through procuring competitive research grants, leading significant research projects and working with other staff to develop research links. The position will provide strong and committed leadership in teaching, curriculum development and research training by participating in the Faculty’s curriculum planning and development processes, academic committees, and relevant examination processes.
