About the Role:

As the Professor, you will be a senior academic staff member of the College of Nursing and Health Sciences, and will provide outstanding leadership in research within the Caring Futures Institute, and teaching. The Caring Futures Institute is Australia’s first research centre for the study of self-care and caring solutions that applies innovative methodologies, and technologies to revolutionise the future of healthcare. You will advance the College and Caring Futures Institute in its reputation as a centre of excellence in education and research, both nationally and internationally, and advance the development of the discipline of nursing.

In this position, you will:

• Design, develop and conduct inspired teaching across courses in the College of Nursing and Health Science, with a focus on mental health nursing.

• Make an outstanding and high-quality contribution to cross-disciplinary research aligned with the Caring Futures Institute and Institute for Mental Health and Wellbeing.

• Provide leadership in activities such as publications, presentations, mentoring and supervising of Research Higher Degree students.

About You

Your well-developed communication and interpersonal skills will develop effective relationships with staff, students, and industry.  You will demonstrate a commitment to fostering a positive workplace culture and will role model behaviours that uphold the values and ethos of the University. You will draw upon your relevant and contemporary clinical experience in your teaching practices, to demonstrate an understanding of the nexus between learning, research, scholarship, and practice in Mental Health Nursing.  You will have experience in designing and conducting innovative teaching, student assessments, and you will understand curriculum reviews. Your outstanding cross-disciplinary leadership will support and underpin existing areas within the Caring Futures Institute. You will have an active track record of teaching expertise in nursing at a tertiary level.

To be successful in this position, you will:

• Obtain a PhD or EdD or equivalent qualification in relevant field, and recognition of academic standing at a national or international level in nursing.

• Hold a registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) as a Nurse.

• Hold and maintain current membership with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia.
