About the Role

The Professor in Education will lead a dynamic team in research, teaching, and community engagement with a strong focus on contemporary pedagogical practice across our Education degrees at Flinders University. Advancing the University’s reputation as a centre of excellence, the Professor in Education will focus on Inclusive and Specialised Education, particularly in Autism and help inspire Early and Middle Career Researchers.

Key responsibilities as the Professor in Education include:

  • Providing outstanding teaching, using innovative delivery methods in Inclusive and Specialised Education.

  • Producing highly regarded publications and gaining external competitive research grants.

  • Mentoring Flinders research students and growing the PhD cohort.

  • Providing leadership in the Initial Teacher Education and the Research Programs of the College.

  • Actively maintaining academic standards and developing educational curriculum within Education.

About You

To be successful in this role you will be a distinguished leader, teacher, and researcher at a tertiary level, with a strong ability to collaborate internationally. You are highly experienced in delivering innovative teaching, helping to maximise student learning and inspire excellence amongst colleagues. You will have a strong international reputation in research, particularly in inclusive and special education. You are an excellent communicator in all formats, particularly in your ability to establish relationships with students, staff, and industry partners. You will have a completed PhD in a relevant discipline area.

In addition, you will also demonstrate:

  • Significant experience in curriculum development and teaching methodology for topics and programs of study, including reviews and internal and external accreditation activities.

  • Sustained high quality publications and attraction of several competitive external grants.

  • Excellence in the supervision of honours and research higher degree students.

  • Significant contribution to the discipline and/or profession within a relevant external professional domain and within a wider community context at local, national, and international level.

  • A strong track record of establishing effective research collaborations with external national and international partners.
