About the opportunity

Established in 1988, the NHMRC Clinical Trials Centre (CTC) is a Flagship Centre within the faculty of Medicine and Health, and the premier centre for clinical trials of the University. It is a global leader in clinical trials, impacting future health practice and policy. The CTC is also a leader in research excellence, the methodology of trials, and the translation of research into clinical practice.

CTC is seeking a dynamic and accomplished individual to join our esteemed team as a Professor or Associate Professor of Biostatistics. The successful candidate will lead cutting-edge research, oversee excellence in biostatical analyses and contribute to the advancement of biostatistical methodology, with a focus on its applications in health and medical research. The NHMRC Trial Centre is renowned for its involvement in large-scale clinical trials and diverse trial methodologies across diverse disease areas.

Key responsibilities

  • Conduct innovative research in biostatistics, particularly in the context of clinical trials, clinical epidemiology, and public health.
  • Lead and collaborate on clinical trials, contributing statistical expertise to study design, data analysis, and the interpretation of results.
  • Mentor and guide junior researchers, fostering a collaborative and intellectually stimulating research environment.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of biostatistical methodologies that address current challenges in health and medical research.

Qualifications

  • A doctoral degree in Biostatistics, Statistics, or a related field.
  • A strong record of research accomplishments, including high impact publications and involvement in successful grant applications.
  • Expertise in the application of biostatistics to diverse areas of health and medical research, with a focus on clinical trials.
  • Experience in mentoring and supervising researchers at various career stages.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams.

Term and remuneration

This is a full-time, fixed-term position. The successful candidate will be offered a competitive remuneration package commensurate with the responsibilities of the position and the candidate's relevant experience and qualifications.
