The Opportunity

Embark on a transformative journey as a Professor or Associate Professor leading the envisioned Centre for Environmental Informatics (C4EI) within the Faculty of Information Technology at Monash University. 

C4EI will pioneer cutting-edge interdisciplinary research, harnessing the power of Data Science, Artificial Intelligence and Information Technology to address the most pressing environmental challenges. The focus of our research agenda are biodiversity and climate change and their interactions with resource consumption and production. Our mission is to develop of AI and IT technologies that support this interdisciplinary agenda and to ensure these are harnessed for real world impact. 

As the champion and leader of C4EI, you will shape the future of environmental informatics, blending translational research with foundational exploration. Your impact will resonate across departments, faculties, and institutes as you foster collaborations, lead high-impact interdisciplinary research programs, and train the next generation of researchers and decision makers. 

About You

We are seeking a Professor or Associate Professor in environmental informatics with a passion for translating data science, AI, and IT research into tangible real-world impact. You have a distinguished track record in research but what truly sets you apart is your proven ability to bridge between disciplines to lead and inspire with a clear vision.

As a leader in environmental informatics field, you will drive a high-quality interdisciplinary research program, aligning it with the Faculty's theme of IT for Sustainability and IT for Social Good. Your ability in obtaining philanthropic, industry, and government funding will be pivotal as you lead collaborations with internal and external partners, shaping Monash's influence nationally and internationally.
