About the School and Centre

The UWA School of Agriculture and Environment (SAgE) is a research-intensive school that spans the broad disciplines of Agricultural Science, Agricultural and Resource Economics, Environmental Science and Geography and Planning.

Australian Herbicide Resistance Initiative (AHRI) is a research leader in herbicide resistance, crop and weed science. With major funding from the Grains Research and Development Corporation (GRDC), Australian Research Council (ARC) and industry, AHRI is focused on sustainable cropping and weed control.

The Opportunity

AHRI, SAgE is seeking an established academic leader with energy, vision and commitment to excellence in applied research, graduate student training (PhD and MSc) and coursework teaching.

This role is to lead research in crop/weed science and weed control technologies and contribute to teaching and extension programs. AHRI is a GRDC funded national initiative that addresses herbicide resistance, weed control and crop agronomy. The appointee will work collaboratively within UWA and build links with external partners, grains industry and grower groups.

About you

We are interested in individuals who:

  • Have relevant PhD qualifications (or equivalent), with the skills and willingness to focus on research aimed to develop innovative weed control technologies and practices applicable in the Australian grains industry
  • Have a strong track record for research leadership, including grant success, publications and postgraduate student supervisio
  • Have enthusiasm for the grains industry, university teaching and scientific communication
