Applications are now open for the Professional Experience Program (PEP) for the 2025 calendar year.

About PEP

UniSA is committed to the ongoing growth and development of all of our people and recognise ongoing, industry, community and partner engaged academic development is core to our performance and success.

The Professional Experience Program (PEP) provides the opportunity for eligible academic staff to engage in a period of structured professional development to the mutual benefit of the academic staff member and the University for an agreed period of paid release from normal duties.

University PEP priorities

It is important that your PEP application, including intended outcomes and their contribution to the relevant discipline, profession and/or University, is aligned with the University’s PEP priorities.

Academic Units:

1. Scale Research or Enterprise Income
Finalise a collaborative application or program of collaborative applications that will support the University’s goal to scale category one to four income.

2. Scale Research or Enterprise Impact
A program of research/scholarship that will lead to high-quality, impactful research outputs and outcomes; disseminating research with international collaborators is highly valued.

UniSA Research Office:

1. Undertake research related to an Academic Enterprise Plan priority area that UniSA RO is directly involved in. 

2. Collaborative research, with highly valued international collaborators that will lead to high-quality research outputs and outcomes that could be globally impactful.

3. Improve or enhance professional knowledge/expertise associated with the staff member’s role in supporting UniSA RO-related Academic Enterprise Plan priority areas, specifically:

  a. Doctoral education, with a focus on quality and distinctiveness, providing exceptional candidate satisfaction and graduate outcomes.

  b. HDR Supervisor education and development, with a focus on contemporary practice in researcher development and training, leading to engaged participants and high quality HDR supervision of candidates.

4. Build specific capabilities, knowledge, and skills needed to support the strategic research ambitions of the University, including the aligned strategic ambitions of UniSA RO.

Teaching Innovation Unit:

1. Undertake research related to UniSA priority areas outlined in the TIU Work Plan or Academic Enterprise Plan.

2. Improve or enhance professional knowledge and collaborations in a field of expertise associated with the staff member’s role in supporting the TIU Work Plan and Academic Enterprise Plan priority areas.

3. Build specific capabilities, knowledge, and skills needed by the TIU to support the strategic ambitions of the University into the future.

UniSA Online:

1. Scale Research or Enterprise Impact
A program of research/scholarship that will lead to high-quality, impactful research outputs and outcomes; disseminating research with international collaborators is highly valued.

Addressing these priorities and the mutual benefit PEP will bring to your own development and the University should be highlighted clearly within your submission so that your application can be directly assessed by the PEP Committee against the criteria.
