About the Faculty of Fine Arts and Music

The Faculty of Fine Arts and Music is home to the prestigious Victorian College of the Arts and Melbourne Conservatorium of Music. Our dedicated faculty offers a wide range of disciplines, including composition, dance, design, film and television, jazz and improvisation, music performance, theatre, and visual arts.

About the Role

The Production Coordinator (Screen) plays a crucial role in overseeing technical and production operations in the Faculty of Fine Arts and Music (FAM), collaborating with professional and academic teams, the coordinator manages end-to-end production processes for assigned projects focusing predominately on screen-based programs in the Film & Television area.

The Production Coordinator (Screen), alongside other Coordinators are part of the Artistic Operations Team, which sits within Programs & Operations (P&O), within the Faculty. This role reports directly to the Artistic Operations Manager and will see you working in close collaboration with other Artistic Operations and P&O Staff; Academic Heads and Subject Coordinators; and Students.

Responsibilities include:

  • Coordinate end-to-end production processes for assigned projects
  • Contribute to, maintain, and communicate Production Parameters to production stakeholders
  • Provide administrative and operational support to student production practices and methods including systems, software (e.g. Yamdu) and processes
  • Review and maintain student production and resource guide and safe operating procedures as informed by both University and Industry.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement efforts, supporting the Artistic Operations Manager

About You

To be successful in this role you will have the ability to work collaboratively as well as independently with the initiative to take on tasks. You will bring strong project management skills with a logical and analytical approach to planning and allocation of resources, including a demonstrated capacity to meet deadlines and manage large teams. You will show a capacity to negotiate, with sensitivity and patience, a creative approach to problem-solving, and the ability to remain calm in a busy environment. Additionally, you will have excellent communication skills, both written and oral.

You will also have:

  • Relevant experience within the Film & Television Industry enabling the role to be performed effectively, including solid experience in creative processes and concepts
  • Experience in preparation of script assessments and safety reports
  • Tertiary qualifications (or progress towards) or equivalent with relevant industry experience or equivalent combination
  • Strong practical understanding of delivering high quality production services within a Film & TV environment
  • Strong knowledge of Film & TV production management procedures, as well as design and aesthetics, set design & construction, lighting, sound, audio visual, digital & streaming requirements, costumes, and props
