The Product Owner (Intranet) provides leadership and tactical support for the development and management of the staff intranet, Microsoft SharePoint and Microsoft Teams and ensuring value delivery to the business.

You will work closely with Senior leaders and the team to create features and solutions that are aligned to business and product strategy and take the lead in defining, planning and delivering improvements to areas of product ownership and leads the development of the overall product strategy. 

You will ensure innovative and enterprise-level solutions are successfully and continuously developed, delivered and maintained for all Deakin stakeholders.

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Lead a range of activities, including user requirements gathering and analysis, business analytics, data and research, to evaluate, plan, deliver, recommend, implement and document innovative products and solutions to benefit Deakin stakeholders
  • Identify, refine and sequence bugs/operational BAU backlog items appropriately, ensuring digital products and solutions continue to meet stakeholder & security and privacy expectations
  • Promote teamwork and provide tailored coaching to enable individuals to deliver high quality solutions and the achievement of goals
  • Act as a coach and work with team members to facilitate growth and development by giving balanced, constructive feedback considering individual capability and team performance, in alignment with Deakin’s code of conduct and core university strategies and policies that promote a safe, sustainable and productive working environment
  • Conceptualise local plans in alignment with University strategies and monitor progress and risks, adapt
  • s personal and team priorities and plans as required
  • Actively engage and enable collaboration across teams and with a diverse range of stakeholders to negotiate inclusive and accessible solutions and achieve strategic goals
  • Actively encourage and coach others to question traditional assumptions, promotes ideas and review practices and policies and translate into workplace improvements
  • Establish systems and procedures to guide work and track and evaluate progress, strive for excellence and effectively overcomes barriers to achieve outcomes
  • Use accepted theory and practices to develop and deploy continuous improvement strategies and actions in own work area
  • Develop a network of useful contacts within Deakin and integrate perspectives held within different areas of the University and put
  • s plans in place to build collaboration and develop common goals
  • Navigate appropriate course of action, gain agreement on preferred approach and prepare advice (information, materials and recommendations) to meet specific stakeholder style and requirements

To be successful, you’ll have:

  • High level stakeholder management skills and the ability to lead a team to deliver digital products and support for Deakin staff. You are encouraged to apply for the role even if you don’t meet all of the selection criteria - experience in product management, web development, information management are advantageous
  • An equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training (digital workplace, intranet or employee experience management)
  • Experience leading a high-performing, outcome-focused team
  • Familiarity with product management, project management, change management, and/or service management approaches
  • Experienced in facilitating group stakeholder meetings, and the ability to negotiate, and influence stakeholders/colleagues and their expectations, to achieve objectives
  • Experience working in an agile delivery environment working as a PO, BA or Product Manager
  • Experience liaising with Project Managers, Enterprise & Solution Architects, senior business stakeholders, technical development teams, UX and designers
