Victoria University (VU) is a dual sector (higher education and TAFE) tertiary institution based in Melbourne, Australia. About the Role:

The Procurement Officer is required to work closely with internal and external stakeholders. This role requires excellent verbal and written communication skills, excellent customer service skills, and the ability to work in a busy, demanding and highly transactional environment. It is important the Procurement Officer can work independently and collaboratively when required.  

This position is being offered on full-time continuing basis at the HEP 5 Classification Level, Salary range $73,852 - $84,831 per annum, plus 17% Superannuation. The position is located at Footscray Park Campus.

Examples of duties the role will perform, include:

  • Provide high quality customer service to university stakeholders and assist them with their purchasing requirements. 
  • Responsible for creating purchase requisitions and processing invoices for payment in accordance with University Purchasing Policy and Procedures. 
  • Obtain request for quotations for university stakeholders for review and approval. 
  • Liaise with internal stakeholders on any outstanding invoice approvals, and identify issues and problem solving to facilitate timely supplier payments. 
  • Co-ordinate billing and/or cost recovery of expenditure to departments for centralised supply contracts. 
  • Provide accurate supplier accrual information from the finance system to support end of month and year accounting and spend management. 
  • Assist stakeholders in making sustainable procurement decisions to support the University Sustainability Strategy and Modern Slavery Act compliance. 

About You:

  • Have proven experience in centralised procurement operations
  • Strong administrative skills, including attention to detail and time management skills, and the ability to deal with competing deadlines and priorities
  • Commitment and capacity to deliver quality client customer service
