The Opportunity

Reporting to the Head of the Blood Cancer Biomarkers Laboratory, you will be responsible for the operational undertakings of the laboratory including developing laboratory protocols, processing clinical samples, supervising and training PhD and Master students in the laboratory, and managing the inventory, budget, and database.

As the successful candidate, your key responsibilities may include:

  • Producing conference and seminar publications regarding the research
  • Representing the research program in business development programs and in professional activities such as conferences and seminars
  • Developing a limited amount of research-related material for teaching or other purpose and occasionally contributing to teaching in relation to the research
  • Managing and overseeing risk, compliance, OHS and quality assurance requirements for the research program

The appointee will have an honours degree or higher qualifications in medical sciences or genomics and/or experience and management expertise in the relevant field. Experience in processing clinical samples including blood, tissues, and fluid samples, and experience in laboratory management and maintaining a database are advantageous in this role.
