About Property, Facilities and Development

The Property, Facilities and Development (PFD) team works across all of Flinders’ places, spaces, and physical infrastructure. Working across four key areas: Strategic Planning and Sustainability; Capital Development; Customer and Site Services; and Strategic Projects, we are responsible for the planning, development, capital delivery, management, and maintenance of university spaces to ensure they are fit for purpose and support Flinders to deliver its strategic objectives. The PFD team is leading the planning, development, and delivery of four major strategic projects as the University strives to achieve its bold ambitions.

About the Role

As the Principal Facilities Contracts Manager, you will manage all phases of contract delivery to ensure commercial outcomes and value for Flinders University. This will involve leading and proactively developing contract strategy, procurement, and managing already established contracts. You will work within the wider Property, Facilities and Development team to identify areas where contract management frameworks could be developed, cultivating an environment of continuous improvement.  You will also be responsible for implementing audit plans for service providers and serve as a key point-of-escalation where disputes arise, resolving matters successfully within agreed contract terms.  

The role will also support the evaluation of tenders and bids from service providers as well leads the development and preparation of tailored commercial instruments to facilitate services with the support of management and other relevant university stakeholders, including the legal team.

You will also take on the monitoring of all financial aspects of contracts within the portfolio of responsibilities and through regular financial and non-financial data analysis, identify and investigate spend patterns providing formal recommendations to address issues.

About You

To be successful as the Principal Facilities Contracts Manager you will be an experienced and strategic contract manager, with a proven record of achieving sustainable outcomes and cost reductions through management and continually improving practices. You are an excellent communicator, negotiator, and collaborator, specifically when required to exercise judgment for disputes in a complex environment. You place high importance on developing and maintaining relationships with stakeholders to understand their needs. You can demonstrate experience in a similar business landscape, recognising the need to adapt, manage multiple priorities and use lateral thinking to effectively mitigate risks.  An ideal candidate will hold a tertiary qualification in procurement and contract management, law, or other relevant degree qualifications (or demonstrate a combination of extensive relevant experience and/or education and/or training).
