About us

Curtin’s School of Allied Health offers professionally recognised courses in Exercise and Sport Science, Occupational Therapy, Physiotherapy, Social Work, and Speech Pathology.

We also operate specialist clinics at Curtin Perth, Challis Community Primary School and Curtin Clinics Cockburn, where our students can hone their skills while delivering professional services to the community.

In this role you will

  • Supervise individual students during practicum sessions and monitor students in professional workplace environments including skill development and assessment, and review of student documentation related to professional practice using professional experience and judgement, in the exercise science and exercise physiology courses.
  • Use specialised knowledge to implement professional education strategies that are compliant with industry standards and legislation including occupational health and safety requirements.
  • Use evidence-based practice as a framework for practicum supervision and feedback of professional skill development.
  • Facilitate feedback from and to students and industry partners regarding development of work integrated learning.
  • Provide information and guidance on the Policies and Procedures of the Curtin University and ESSA requirements.
  • Manage a range of administrative processes and functions relevant to the course.

We are looking for someone with

  • A qualification in relevant discipline with current accreditation as an Accredited Exercise Physiologist (AEP) with Exercise and Sports Science Australia (ESSA)
  • Demonstrated experience in clinical exercise physiology and sports science of at least 4 years
  • Experience in mentoring others and providing supervision to students
  • Demonstrated ability to coordinate the operational running of the student-led exercise clinic
  • Demonstrated capacity to supervise students within a gym setting
  • Demonstrated high level communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to contribute to the maintenance of a collegial and supportive working environment and the ability to interact with students and staff with cross cultural sensitivity.
