About This Opportunity

This is an exciting opportunity for a Postdoctoral Research Fellow or Research Fellow with expertise in Social and Organisational Psychology, especially with an emphasis on the social identity approach or a related field, to join the recently established Training Centre for Behavioural Insights for Technology Adoption (BITA).

The BITA Training Centre is an Australian Research Council (ARC) Industrial Transformation Training Centre led by Queensland University of Technology in partnership with The University of Queensland, University of Western Australia, and industry organisations. It aims to build transformative capability in people, data, and solutions to support Australian organisations to achieve higher returns on technology investment.

In this role, you will support research which focuses on understanding and overcoming the behavioural barriers that impede the widespread adoption and diffusion of innovative technologies. Your research will address the challenges at each stage of the innovation process – conception and design, market translation, and evaluation.

This position will be based within the School of Psychology at The University of Queensland (UQ) under the supervision of Professor Alex Haslam (Centre Deputy Director). The appointee will also work closely with other BITA researchers based at UQ, most notably Professor Jolanda Jetten, but also Associate Professor Nik Steffens, Professor Barbara Masser, Professor Blake McKimmie, and Associate Professor Martin Edwards, and with partners at collaborating industry organisations.

This is a part-time (50% FTE), fixed-term, research focused position for three (3) years. This opportunity is being offered at Academic Level A or B commensurate with the successful candidate’s skills and experience.

At Level A, the full-time equivalent base salary will be in the range $75,808- $100,926, plus a generous super allowance of up to 17%. The total FTE package will be up to $88,696 - $118,084 annually.

At Level B, the full-time equivalent base salary will be in the range $106,079 - $125,687, plus a generous super allowance of up to 17%. The total FTE package will be up to $124,113 - $147,054 annually.

The greater benefits of joining the UQ community are broad: from being part of a Group of Eight university, to recognition of prior service with other Australian universities, up to 26 weeks of paid parental leave, 17.5% annual leave loading, flexible working arrangements including hybrid on site/WFH options and flexible start/finish times, and genuine career progression opportunities via the academic promotions process.
