THE ROLE

Macquarie Cyber Hub at Macquarie University. We are seeking two qualified Postdoctoral Research Fellows to join a team with an international reputation for producing high quality research outcomes in the areas of privacy-preserving record linkage (PPRL) and Robustness of artificial intelligence (AI) systems.

The scope of the first project is on building human-AI collaborative systems that are robust against adversarial attacks on such systems. The successful candidate will contribute to developing and defending against adversarial attacks against AI technologies and might target human-AI collaborative systems. The aim of the second project is to develop formal verification methods for Privacy preservation in Record linkage or machine learning-based  data sharing and collaboration. The successful candidate will develop formal verification methods and provable privacy preserving algorithms including in the healthcare domain.

Selection Criteria

To be considered for this position, applicants must address the selection criteria below, and attach your CV (including a list of two referees), a statement of research interests and achievements.

Essential

  • A PhD in computer science or a related discipline and/or relevant experience with combination of qualifications and skills.

  • Experience in research in cybersecurity, data privacy, and security and privacy of machine learning.

  • Ability to undertake original experimental research, as evidenced by impactful and high-quality outputs.

  • Ability to foster a nurturing environment for research students including the provision of research student supervision.

  • Demonstrated capacity to work independently and as part of a team.

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.

  • Ability for analytical thinking and independent problem solving.

Desirable

  • Experience in adversarial attacks in machine learning

  • Experience in privacy-preserving record linkage

  • Experience in formal verification methods

Salary package: Level A Step 6 (PhD) from $102,501 to $109,852 p.a., plus 17% employer’s superannuation and annual leave loading.

Appointment Type: Full-time, fixed term for 12 months with a possibility of further extension subject to funding.
