An exciting opportunity for a Postdoctoral Research Fellow to work on the development on nanotherapeutics for use in autoimmune disorders. This role will work as part of a multidisciplinary team that is focussed on understanding how our nanomedicines regulate immunity and health outcomes building on the success of our oral insulin nanotechnology that has translated to clinical trials. This is a 2-year Fixed Term Contract but has the possibility to extend. 


 


Your key responsibilities will be to:


  • undertake original research (either independently or as part of a team) within discipline or area of expertise

  • maintain a research profile, including publication of book chapters, peer-reviewed journal articles, conference and/or seminar papers

  • develop research collaborations and engage with our industry partners to translate to the clinic, improved policy, enhance manufacturing and clinical practise

  • contribute to applications for competitive research grants or funding to deliver research impact

  • maintain quality, standards and excellence in research activities and output

  • provide informal mentoring and guidance to lower-level academics and supervise postgraduate research students or projects where appropriate

  • carry out administrative tasks and contribute to faculty/school meetings

  • maintains an understanding of the University’s strategic agenda and contributes to furthering that agenda

  • maintains active involvement with discipline, including assisting with the organisation of seminars, conferences, and activities. 



About you 


  • PhD in autoimmune diseases (desirably in type 1 diabetes) and development of therapeutics  

  • a background in biomedical science or biomedical engineering or equivalent

  • experience in working with multi modalities such as flow cytometry, microscopy, cell isolations, and proteomics

  • a keen interest in immunology, nanotechnology, and translational science

  • a developing network of national and international relationships with key academic, industry and professional institutions, partners, and stakeholders  

  • a developing research profile evidenced by original, high-quality research in the area of immunology, nanotechnology, aging, or immune regulation.
