  • Full time, 12 months fixed term. Located on the Darlington Campus at the School of Civil Engineering
  • Solidify the understanding on the methodology of renewable energy sharing among energy entities in modern urban systems. Advance the study peer-to-per energy trading in energy demand side and its impact for the grid's operation and reliability.
  • Base Salary, Level A $101,507 - $112,462 p.a + 17% superannuation

About the opportunity

The School of Civil Engineering is currently seeking a Postdoctoral Research Associate in Smart Grid and Sustainable Energy Systems to carry out an ARC Discovery Project (DP220103881), specifically: conduct research on peer-to-peer energy trading schemes in smart cities, transactive energy demand side management techniques, and building-to-grid integration with high renewable penetration.

Your key responsibilities will be to:

  • work with Dr Fengji Luo on ARC DP220103881 in School of Civil Engineering
  • establish numerical models of distributed energy resources, building envelopes, and power distribution networks in Matlab and/or Python
  • develop peer-to-peer energy trading and transactive energy demand side management algorithms in Matlab and/or Python
  • perform numerical simulation for the developed models and algorithms in Matlab and/or Python
  • prepare academic manuscripts to report the research work.

About you

  • a PhD in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering or Computer Science
  • solid understanding in smart grids and modern energy systems
  • solid understanding in optimisation and machine learning techniques
  • proficient skills in Matlab and Python programming
  • good academic publication record in the areas of smart grids and energy-efficient buildings
  • professional English communication skills (reading, writing and oral presentation).
