The Postdoctoral Research Associate will undertake research in a multi-disciplinary project on dynastic institutions, notably family offices, their institutionalisation and dynamics.
The successful applicant will work at the interface of the business disciplines and social sciences, including management, sociology, politics and finance. The project will draw upon family business studies and the sociology of organisations in particular.
The successful applicant will also assist in the development of new projects as required. This will include preparation of research grant applications, literature review, and coordination with stakeholders.

Key Position Responsibilities

The Postdoctoral Research Associate will be responsible for:

• Coding a large database of newspaper articles on family offices and contributing to the development of theories about the growth of family offices and their dynamics.

• Contributing to the planning and execution of research by offering new ideas, reviewing relevant literature and other sources of information, actively participating in the production of data, and attending seminars, meetings and conferences.

• Contributing to the coordination, planning and execution of project tasks, including coordination with informants, external stakeholders and partners.

• Contributing to ethical, high quality and innovative research and evaluation through activities such as scholarship, quality publication, external grant applications and presentations that align with College areas of research strength and focus.

• Establishing and maintaining collaborations within the University, and at State, national and international levels in order to improve research outputs and publications.

• Any other responsibilities in line with the level of the position as assigned by the Supervisor and/or the University.

Key Position Capabilities

• Recent completion of a PhD in the business disciplines or social sciences.

• Demonstrated ability to assimilate and engage with inter-disciplinary research across business and social science disciplines.

• Demonstrated emerging research experience in terms of publications and presentations at a national and/or international level in a relevant field.

• Demonstrated experience in social science research methodology and methods.

• Demonstrated well-developed interpersonal skills and the capacity to collaborate and engage with  diverse stakeholders and industry partners.

• Demonstrated ability to critically review the literature in relevant fields.

• Demonstrated excellent oral and written communication skills in an academic environment.
