The Malins group in the Research School of Chemistry are seeking up to two Postdoctoral Fellows in synthetic organic chemistry and peptide chemistry to support activities associated with the Australian Research Council (ARC) Centre of Excellence for Advanced Peptide and Protein Engineering (CAPE) and the Snow Fellowship Program.

The Positions

The first position is a fixed-term, up to 24‑month appointment supporting research in the Malins Lab associated with the Australian Research Council (ARC) Centre of Excellence for Advanced Peptide and Protein Engineering (CAPE) and focusing on the chemical synthesis of modified peptides and proteins. The role will involve the initiation and execution of collaborative projects with both academic and industry partners.

The second position is a fixed‑term, 24‑month appointment to support research initiatives in the Malins Lab associated with the Snow Fellowship Program on the development of novel peptide-based therapeutics. The role requires expertise in organic synthesis, peptide chemistry and chemical biology and will involve the synthesis of bioactive peptides, the examination of their chemical reactivity, and the optimisation of their drug-like properties.

The People

The successful applicants will undertake independent research in organic and medicinal chemistry with a view to publishing original and innovative results in refereed journals, presenting their work at seminars and conferences, and collaborating with other researchers. The successful applicants will hold a relevant PhD (or awarding of a PhD within six months of appointment commencement) with a track record of innovative research in peptide chemistry. Applicants should demonstrate experience across organic chemistry and peptide synthesis, including compound purification and characterisation.

The School/Department

The Research School of Chemistry is a leading centre of chemistry research in Australia. Researchers have a tradition of excellence in addressing the world’s most pressing chemistry issues, including challenges in medicinal chemistry and chemical biology.
