If you want a career where you can thrive, be challenged and do meaningful work, you’re in the right place.

Why Your Role Matters:

We seek a Post-doctoral Fellow (Level A) to lead multiplexed single molecule fluorescence imaging of heart tissues, cells and model cell assays. The objective of the position will include leveraging multiplexing capability of point accumulation for imaging in nanoscale topography (PAINT) to study combinations of molecular interactions in nanoscale signalling domains in cardiac muscle cells.

Specific objectives of this position include (1) leading the establishment the cardiac cell models, in particular stem-cell assays and tissue processing protocols required for studying intracellular molecular interactions in cardiac muscle cells in physiological, drug-treated, and disease states; (2) develop the bespoke imaging probes required for PAINT imaging leveraging metabolic labelling, cellular transfection and gene editing, (3) performing the primary PAINT imaging experiments and make the primary observations of protein localisation patterns in these cells, and (4) Planning, designing, benchmarking, executing, and statistically evaluating the experiments.

A Post-Doctoral Fellow (Level A) is expected to contribute towards the research effort of UNSW and to develop their research expertise through the pursuit of defined projects relevant to their field of research. The role of Post-Doctoral Fellow reports to Associate Professor Izzy Jayasinghe. You will work with a team of biophysicists, molecular and computational biologists embedded in the EMBL node for single molecule science (https://sms.unsw.edu.au/ ) within the Department of Molecular Medicine of UNSW.
