The Position
Are you interested in applying new tools and technologies to develop the crops of the future? This is a unique opportunity for a motivated Postdoctoral Fellow to join a new team aiming to use the latest science to address pressing food and nutritional security challenges. The position offers the opportunity to develop and grow skills in applied plant science and genetics applied to major crop species. Working to address Australia-focused and global agricultural challenges, the position will involve work in the lab to identify genetic and physiological drivers of crop plant performance; use new breeding methods to test their deployment; and scale up findings through a range of controlled and field environmental testing and downstream statistical and bioinformatic analyses.  

This is a key role in a friendly, motivated team providing a welcoming and inclusive environment to address major agricultural challenges in innovative ways and grow research and professional skills and networks.

The Person
We are looking for a qualified plant or crop scientist with experience in applied genetics, physiology or plant breeding. The role is hands-on so the ideal candidate will be interested in learning and using a range of skills and working in a range of environments from the lab through to data analysis. We are looking for someone who likes challenging problems and encourages team members and colleagues to workshop effective solutions.  We are looking for a strong team player with excellent interpersonal skills and the capacity to quickly develop productive, professional relationships. Highly developed organisational skills and effective self-management are key.
