About the Role

The Research Fellow will contribute to the work of an ARC Linkage Project titled ‘The new digital governance of welfare-to-work’. This project aims to analyse the implementation of a 'digital first' employment services system, its effects on frontline services and governance, and its potential for policy learning. The project will be conducted in close consultation with industry partners and employment services peaks.

The successful applicant is expected to contribute to the project research and administration and actively promote the project research outcomes via different channels, including conferences and academic publications and should demonstrate capability to conduct fieldwork and data collection/analysis and be able to work collaboratively and collegially with fellow academics within the research team and with non-academic partners.

Responsibilities include:

  • Working with the project team and non-academic partners to develop the project research design and methods
  • Assisting with preparation of interview schedules, data collection and analysis
  • Contributing substantially to reports and other publications by submission and successful publication of articles in peer reviewed journals during the term of the appointment.

About You

Your ability to coordinate research projects allows you to remain within scope and meet deadlines. You work well as part of a team, and your strong interpersonal skills enable you to develop positive working relationships and work effectively with a wide range of stakeholders.

You will also have:

  • PhD in Public Policy or a closely related discipline
  • Demonstrated ability to conduct fieldwork and qualitative research
  • A track record in research, writing and publications in the appropriate area and the potential to develop further research expertise
  • Ability to present research findings to a wide range of audiences (e.g. academic and industry conferences)
