About the opportunity
The Faculty of Health Sciences is the largest health sciences faculty in Australia, consisting of seven disciplines, five research themes (plus 3 cross-cutting themes), and four research centres. The School of Health Sciences is known for world-leading health sciences education and research. The university seeks to employ a Level B Post Doctoral Researcher, this position is ideally suited to a clinician researcher with an interest in musculoskeletal conditions. The position will work with a national team, implementing a Pathway of care for people with chronic musculoskeletal conditions living in RURAL, regional and remote Australia using allied telehealth (PACE-RURAL).
This project directly addresses the aims of this MRFF opportunity by implementing an evidence-based clinical Pathway of Care to improve health service delivery for people with chronic musculoskeletal conditions living in RURAL, regional and remote Australia (PACE-RURAL). The team is led by expert allied health clinician-researchers working directly in primary care and rural communities.
This role is based in Sydney on the Camperdown campus and may require travel to Northen NSW as needed however remote working may be implemented a required.
Your key responsibilities will be to:



  • Conduct research to further the Faculty or School's research agenda

  • develop and refine research skills and independent research under the supervision of more senior academic staff

  • undertake administration primarily related to their activities at the University

  • ethics, data access approval processes and data management

  • stakeholder engagement

  • data preparation and management of linked dataset

  • manage recruitment from the NSW cluster

  • collecting and analysing baseline assessment questionnaires

  • establishing the national data base (REDcap) and assist project manager with lead ethics

  • co-ordinate ethics between University of Sydney and the participating sites nationally.


About you



  • PHD in relevant field

  • demonstrated experience in data preparation, data management, and analysis of large, population-based linked administrative health datasets

  • ability to work in a multidisciplinary academic team, and independently as required

  • high-level planning and organisational skills, with the ability to prioritise multiple tasks and set and meet deadlines

  • experience in research project management and ethics applications

  • documented and proven background in an allied health profession

  • proven work experience as a clinician in relevant health field

  • proven experience as a clinical researcher within allied health

  • strong stakeholder communication skills dealing with allied health professionals and/ or clinicians

  • expertise and experience in undertaking research related to health care systems, allied health and or rural and remote health.
