Overview

The School of Medical and Health Sciences at Edith Cowan University (ECU) offers undergraduate, postgraduate and research degrees.  Academics in the School are involved in research and teaching relating to a wide range of health disciplines.

The SPIN (Systematic Profiling in Neurological Conditions) Research Program was established in 2019 within the School of Medical and Health Sciences at Edith Cowan University (ECU). The focus of SPIN is to develop and trial interventions which will help maintain and improve the quality of life of individuals living with neurological conditions.

ECU is seeking a Post-Doctoral Research Fellow to carry out innovative, high impact research of strategic importance to SPIN Research Program with a focus on consumer engagement and co-design to inform research on precision health as well as ongoing maintenance and management for people with neurological conditions.

The successful candidate will possess the following key attributes:

  • A PhD in a relevant discipline such as occupational therapy, health science, public health, social work or psychology.
  • Demonstrated initiative and a proven strong desire to collaborate with researchers from diverse scientific disciplines, including those from clinical and non-clinical health settings.
  • Demonstrated understanding of working with people with the lived experience of neurological conditions.
  • Demonstrated experience in qualitative methodologies and co-design.
  • Strong track record of high-level research outputs in relevant areas of research relative to opportunity (e.g. publications, conference presentations, research awards and early career funding).
  • Ability to effectively work with, supervise and manage teams.
  • Highly developed interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.
  • High level problem solving and time management skills.
  • Proven ability to perform research autonomously, including managing research projects in an appropriate timeframe.
  • Ability to obtain a National Police Check

Experience in leading projects would be highly regarded as would the desire to supervise postgraduate students to develop student supervision and mentoring skills.

Benefits & Remuneration
This full time, fixed term position (12 months) attracts remuneration of $102,253 pa to $120,814 pa plus 17% University superannuation contribution.
