About the team

The Office of Research is responsible for formulating and providing policy advice, and for developing and implementing procedures to effectively coordinate and administer externally and internally funded research activities which enhance the University’s research reputation. The  Research Operations Team is responsible for the procurement and administration of internally and externally funded research grants, contracts and postdoctoral research fellowships.

About the opportunity

You will work as part of a team which administers research grants, contracts and postdoctoral research fellowships. You will take a lead role in the review, negotiation and management of research agreements, including liaising with the legal office and other staff across the University. 

To be considered for this opportunity, you will demonstrate:

  • Relevant degree qualification in law or demonstrated equivalent competency
  • Substantial and extensive relevant senior administrative experience in research grants at an appropriate level
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills, including report writing
  • Demonstrated track record of success in negotiating and coordinating complex contract management and administration, including drafting, negotiating, reviewing and administration of research contracts with significant stakeholders including the Commonwealth Government, industry partners and other research institutions
  • Substantial project management skills combined with highly developed conceptual, analytic and problem-solving skills
  • Demonstrated understanding and knowledge of the legal aspects of intellectual property and risk management principles
  • Demonstrated contemporary knowledge of compliance requirements for major grant funding bodies including the ARC and NHMRC
