The DTS team is full steam ahead on modernising our technology platforms and working with stakeholders to define the digital future for Curtin University.  There is an enormous amount of work to be done -- it is bleeding edge, and we promise you won’t be bored!

In your role as PMO Officer, you will provide services and tools to support the delivery of our innovative digital transformation program of projects. As a member of a team of coordinators and administrators you will deliver project support services to IT projects and assist with the improvement and alignment of our project delivery standards and practices. You will also support on governance, oversight, and reporting for the strategic technology programs and projects. Finally, you will have the opportunity to work with our agile coach to support agile delivery practices and events for the IT team.

Here’s what we’re looking for:

  • You take initiative and drive improvement in all you do with a positive can-do mindset
  • Your experience working as part of a PMO team in large organisations will enable you to effectively deliver PMO services and support the use of project management processes and tools in alignment with the Curtin strategic governance framework and our new agile practices for delivery under the guidance of the PMO Lead and Coordinators
  • You are highly organised and will schedule PMO activities to the agreed cadence (governance, reporting, budgeting, etc)
  • You possess strong facilitation capabilities to support delivering project-related workshops and agile planning events
  • Passionate about continual improvement you will help improve processes and tools over time based on expertise, insight, need, priority, and feedback, leveraging SMEs as required
  • Demonstrating a high commitment to quality, you will support quality assurance reviews at appropriate gates
  • You are comfortable with the use of tools to achieve consistent outcomes and will help maintain a library of tools across the project lifecycle and provide support and guidance on their use to team members and project managers
  • You will contribute to the validation of baseline, forecast and actual costs in partnership with the finance department
  • You are committed to supporting timely access to information and will contribute to the provision of a structured document management process, assurance activities, and tools
  • You have great verbal and written communication skills
  • You are comfortable with ambiguity, can handle the unexpected with flexibility
  • You have outstanding interpersonal skills, with an ability to interact professionally with clients and build relationships
  • You are familiar with one or more Agile Project, Program and Portfolio Management methodologies
  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline and/or relevant experience
  • Project Management training and certification a plus
  • Knowledge and experience using a Project Portfolio Management tool, Jira, Confluence, data & analytics platforms a plus
