About the Role
As a member of our Stateless Legal Clinic, you'll work alongside legal experts and community organisations to provide vital legal aid and support to stateless children and adults in Australia. Your work will encompass everything from citizenship applications to complex immigration cases, while also contributing to groundbreaking research and teaching the next generation of human rights lawyers.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Providing administrative support to the Stateless Legal Clinic team, including coordinating meetings, travel arrangements, and general correspondence.
  • Responding to telephone and email inquiries, processing invoices, undertaking credit card reconciliations, and maintaining accurate records within the relevant records management system.
  • Building and maintaining strong relationships with Clinic partners and collaborators, while undertaking projects and other duties as assigned by the Stateless Legal Clinic Director.

You will be a highly organised and communicative individual with a strong attention to detail. Your ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently, while maintaining a compassionate and respectful approach, is essential. A proactive and self-motivated team player, you will thrive in a fast-paced environment. Applicants with lived experience of statelessness are particularly encouraged to apply.

You will also have:

  • Currently undertaking a law degree or recent completion of a degree.
  • Proven experience in administrative roles.
  • Proficiency in standard office software applications (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite)
  • Knowledge of legal research and documentation procedures.

This role requires that the successful candidate must undergo and maintain an up-to-date Working with Children Check. This is essential to guarantee a secure environment for all individuals at the University. In the case the selected candidate doesn't have a valid Working with Children Check, they will be able to apply for the WWCC as part of the initial onboarding procedures.
