The Order of Australia Association Foundation is supporting the next generation of leaders by helping promising young Australians to achieve their potential for the benefit of future generations of Australians.

The scholarship seeks to support high achieving second year students who have demonstrated superior qualities of leadership, initiative and involvement in community affairs.

The Order of Australia Association Foundation scholarship has had a tremendous impact on my studies and my career trajectory. It has allowed me to continue my studies and pursue research without worrying about financially supporting myself.

In addition to the financial support the scholarship provides, the mentorship aspect of the scholarship has also been a valuable experience; getting to know Professor Alexander Smits has been inspiring. He has provided me with great advice regarding my future studies.

The scholarship has also instilled me with the confidence to explore new opportunities and I am grateful for it. I highly recommend applying for this life changing scholarship.

Am I eligible?
You must be one of the following:

• An Australian citizen

You must meet the following criteria:

• Current student enrolled in your first University Degree, in your second year of study in the Faculty of Arts (Department of History) or Faculty Engineering at a Monash Campus in Australia.
• You must demonstrate qualities of leadership, initiative and involvement in community affairs, both at University and during your high school years.

Benefits

• $45,000, paid in two instalments over two years.
• A relationship with a mentor who has received an Award in The Order of Australia and who is eminent in your chosen field of study.
• Presentation of your Certificate by the Governor-General or her representative at a gala Awards Ceremony associated with the Association’s Annual Conference Dinner in Canberra, with costs for you and two next of kin covered and administered by the Foundation.

Selection criteria

• Awarded based on academic achievement.

To retain this scholarship:

• You must provide a commitment that in the years to come, and subject to your availability, you would be willing to engage with fellow Alumni, as well as the activities of the Foundation and the Order of Australia Association.
• You must be enrolled in a full time workload for the duration of your degree.

How to apply

• There are two scholarships to be awarded this year:

Scholarship 1: Donated by Mr Paul Wheelton AM KSJ, this scholarship is awarded to a second year Faculty of Engineering student.

Scholarship 2: Donated by Mr Grahame Leonard AM and Mrs Ruth Leonard, this scholarship is awarded to a second year Faculty of Arts student majoring in History, with a focus on Modern History.
