  • HEO7 - TRP $105,603 - $116,170 per annum inclusive of 17% superannuation

About the position

The Quality and Editorial Specialist will ensure that each subject site within the Learning Management System (LMS) contains accurate, error free, up-to-date and available resources and information. The Quality and Editorial Specialist will be responsible for enhancing the quality and usability of prioritised learning resources, with a particular focus on effective online writing, visual design and accessibility, using established design principles.

The successful applicant will have a strong capacity for teamwork and exceptional writing, editing and online quality skills with an ability to transform online subjects in a manner that engages students and helps them understand and retain the message while retaining the author’s meaning.

They will have a commitment to quality, consistency and accessibility, a strong understanding of the role these play in enhancing both the student experience and student outcomes, and the confidence to promote staff awareness of the same.

Skills and Experience

To be considered for this position, you will have;

  • An undergraduate degree in any area relevant to the position (e.g. Education, Communication) with at least 4 years subsequent experience; or extensive experience and management expertise; or an equivalent alternate combination of relevant knowledge, training and/or experience.
  • Demonstrated understanding of quality standards in higher education and online learning frameworks
  • Demonstrated knowledge of visual design, usability, inclusive design, accessibility and quality assurance frameworks for online learning.
  • A passion for writing and editing, with an ability to transform writing in a manner that engages the audience and helps them understand and retain the message while retaining the author’s meaning.
  • High level written, visual and oral communication skills, including report and guide writing, with a strong student focus and an exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Demonstrated experience and high-level expertise, as evidenced through examples of work, in writing online on diverse subjects to convey information and concepts in a manner that engages the audience and helps them understand and retain the message.
  • Proficiency in both Harvard and APA referencing systems.
  • Ability to listen to and assimilate information from others, identify potential quality improvements and win concessions while maintaining relationships.
