About You

This exciting role is for someone with strong interpersonal skills who can maintain excellent working relationships with their team and internal and external stakeholders. To be successful, you are approachable and have superior communication skills; you can interpret data and knowledge and explain it to others in a way that can easily be understood. Furthermore, you approach situations with an open mind and are a keen learner; you're not afraid to ask questions and are continuously improving. From a technical perspective, it would be advantageous to have some knowledge of research management and the tools and software used for this work.

Position Summary

The Officer, Awards Management provides efficient and effective post-award support for research grants and contracts to assist researchers and the University in meeting obligations to external sponsors and partners. Responsibilities include project establishment, variations, reporting and project close-out. The Officer, Awards Management provides proactive and customer service-oriented support to the RMIT research community and works closely with the Revenue and Research Finance team to ensure effective and accurate financial management of research projects in Workday.

To be successful in this position, you'll have:

  • Demonstrated experience in a research administration and funding environment, preferably in the higher education sector.
  • Proven ability to comprehend and interpret agreements/contracts, capturing vital information.
  • Highly developed customer relations and interpersonal skills including demonstrated ability to use judgement and provide advice.
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills, with proven ability to organise and prioritise work and complete tasks with tight timeframes.
  • Demonstrated high level of computer literacy and/or database skills, preferably large, complex databases.
  • Proven ability to work with minimal supervision and work cooperatively within a team setting.
  • Proven ability to contribute to continuous process improvement.
  • Demonstrated history of behaviour aligned to the RMIT values and professional capability framework.
  • Relevant tertiary qualification(s) or an equivalent combination of qualifications and work experience.
