Monash Leaders Scholarship
The Newmont Leaders Scholarship as supported by Newmont Australia was introduced to provide students with financial support to enable them to access leadership and community engagement opportunities and to support the development of emerging engineering leaders to encourage these talented individuals to enter the mining industry upon completion of their studies.

The financial support from my scholarship allows me to work less, focus more on my studies, and contribute through the Access Monash mentoring program. It has also connected me with a scholarship donor who worked in my field, and is now a great mentor to me as I work out where I want to end up and how to navigate the challenges of studying an Engineering degree.
Am I eligible?
You must be one of the following:
- An Australian citizen
- A New Zealand citizen
- Australian permanent resident
- Australian humanitarian visa holder
You must meet the following criteria:
- Current student enrolled in an undergraduate degree in the Faculty of Engineering at a Monash campus in Australia.
- Demonstrating leadership through community and industry engagement.
Benefits
- $10,000 per annum (48 credit points of study) for the duration of your degree.
Number offered
- One scholarships available per year
Selection criteria
- Based on academic achievement.
- Preference will be given to a student undertaking the Mining Engineering specialisation.
To retain this scholarship:
- You must maintain full-time enrolment and a distinction average (WAM of 70 or above) each semester.
