The Opportunity

This is an exciting opportunity to be at the heart of the next stage of commercialisation transformation at Monash!

The New Ventures Manager is a key member of the New Ventures Team, part of the broader Enterprise Innovation function, in the development and support of inventions in the spinout pathway as they move through to forming a new venture (and beyond). This includes managing a portfolio of spinouts, providing support for Monash Investment Holdings and developing strong partnerships with internal and external stakeholders.

This position is pivotal in both developing Monash spinout opportunities as well as influencing a culture of innovation and entrepreneurship within a leading research university. This role will work across Monash and the wider commercialisation ecosystem to maximise the impact of the University’s research through the creation of new ventures. This involves the operational aspects of spinning out a company as well as raising capital for new and existing companies in Monash’s portfolio.

The successful candidate will have direct experience of working with or in research-based spinouts, a relevant qualification (preferably in a STEMM discipline) and strong networks in the investment and early-stage venture communities. In addition, essential to this role is exceptional interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to negotiate, influence and build consensus at senior levels and with diverse stakeholders.

Diversity is one of our greatest strengths at Monash. We encourage applications from First Nations people, culturally and linguistically diverse people, people with disabilities, neurodiverse people, and people of all genders, sexualities, and age groups.

Join the pursuit of our purpose to build a better future for ourselves and our communities – #ChangeIt with us.

Monash avidly supports flexible and hybrid working arrangements. We have a range of policies in place enabling staff to combine work and personal commitments more easily .
