About the opportunity 

The Mobile Field Officer is primarily responsible for preparing and maintaining teaching spaces and providing onsite operational and GTS facility services including mail, identifying, reporting, and tracking issues, and trades access and monitoring to minimise business disruption for faculty staff.

The staff member will work under close or direct supervision or, in the case of more experienced staff working alone, general supervision. Direction is provided and the jobholder has some discretion to choose between established processes provided set priorities and deadlines are met. They will be expected to exercise a degree of initiative and judgement in resolving routine problems associated with day-to-day operating procedures. They will resolve routine matters directly linked to their key accountabilities while problems that cannot be resolved quickly are referred to supervisors. The staff member will undertake some planning and prioritisation of duties.

The following activities and accountabilities are designed to deliver outcomes aligned with the University’s strategic goals. In the course of delivering outcomes, the incumbent is expected to honour and adhere to the University’s policies, codes and guidelines including the University’s Code of Conduct while consistently demonstrating the University’s culture and values.

Your key responsibilities will be

  • prepare and maintain teaching spaces

  • provide onsite operational and GTS facility services

  • provide support for educational activities

  • ensure GTS facilities are fit for purpose

  • ad-hoc projects and other activities

About you

  • extensive experience in a customer service environment

  • demonstrated ability to be proactive and creative in dealing with problems

  • excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively and in a professional manner with people at all levels

  • proficiency with Microsoft Office

  • current NSW driver’s license - minimum class C

  • computer skills: word processing and spreadsheet skills with knowledge of graphics and design processes and production requirements. Experience in or a working knowledge of museum collection management systems
